4 TRACES

momentum.trace

May 24, 9:29 AM • Claude Opus 4.7

MOMENTUM

Measures how strongly the story moves forward—how much each beat pulls the reader toward what happens next. Focuses on pacing and consequence, not just event count.

4 TRACES

tension.trace

April 16, 1:54 PM • Claude Opus 4.8

TENSION

Measures the pressure the reader feels—how much strain, uncertainty, or unresolved conflict is carried forward. A quiet scene can be highly tense if the stakes are clear.

4 TRACES

activity.trace

January 2, 6:01 PM • Claude Opus 4.7

ACTIVITY

Measures how much is physically or visibly happening on the page: actions, events, and external change. High activity doesn't imply high tension or emotion.

INTERIORITY

Measures the intensity of the character's inner experience: thoughts, emotions, and psychological conflict. A subtle realization can be more intense than a dramatic outburst.

Nearly every promise in the corpus is structurally answered, and the answers realign earlier scenes: Wickham's self-serving "deferred living" narrative (S16) is overturned by Darcy's letter (S35), Collins's compulsive promise-making pays into Charlotte's pragmatic marriage (S21-S22), and Darcy's secret discharge of Lydia's debt (S52) silently fulfills the moral debt his pride created. Coherence is high; the only deliberately unredeemed vows belong to characters whose unreliability is itself the point.
